Please help make the Playground a reality
Our youngest citizens need exercise, too! Currently there is no place for tots and
their families to play in a safe, interactive environment.
From September 20-25, 2011 a small army of untrained but enthusiastic volunteers
will come together on an empty piece of land in the North Meadow of the Chambers
Creek Properties, and in less than a week, build the best regional playground in
west Pierce County. The playground was designed using the ideas and imagination
of 1000+ elementary school children in the community. The 12,000 sq. ft.
handicap assessable playground is part of Chambers Creek Properties master site
plan, a 900-acre regional public facility owned by Pierce County Sewer Utility.
Two professional playground consultants and twenty volunteer construction
captains will oversee quality and lead the hundreds of volunteer on the site
each day. A food committee will provide food for the volunteers and a childcare
committee will take care of children to allow their parents to participate.
Individuals and groups can volunteer for morning, afternoon and evening shifts.
We need, carpenters, painters, strong backs, childcare volunteers, team
captains, coordinators and moral support! Our project will inspire everyone who
participates with a sense of accomplishment and community pride. Expert building
skills are not necessary.
There is a job for EVERYONE. Please fill out our Volunteer Form today and let us
know you are planning to participate!
